Book Bloggers Tips & Tricks Index

Ever since I upgraded my new blog to a fancy new look, I've been getting questions from people asking me lots of questions about tweaking blogger. I guess now I look like I know what I'm doing. The truth is, Doodlebug Designs created my layout for me, and I don't know how to change many things about it.

But I know people who know things! In the course of my short time as a book blogger, I've asked and searched for lots of tips, and I will share what I've found with you. I've tried to organize it in a way that makes sense.

If you have helpful hints, links, or you've created your own list of tips and tricks, please comment here and I'll add your link (if applicable) to my listing.

Bloggers who help:

Melissa @ Melissa's Bookshelf has created a fantastic series of tips for bloggers. She also likes to do link exchanges on reviews and is generally fabulous. Melissa's Bookshelf.

Kristi of the Story Siren, patron saint of new bloggers, even when they drive her crazy, has a few great posts. Blog Questions (counters, star ratings, negative reviews), Book Blog Etiquette, Getting Started, Content and Visitors , as well as her Bloggiesta wrap-up, which includes tips on metadata, optimizing your SEO, creating a contact form, and more!

The Blogging Tips group at the book blogs ning is a great place to talk to more experienced bloggers and get feedback on what you're doing well, and where you could improve.

Jo over at Ink and Paper has her own collection of helpful links to share.

Adele at Persnickety Snark has created a Guide to YA Blogging that has great advice for bloggers in all genres.

For book bloggers: Dealing with publishers and getting books to review.

Kristi, aka The Story Siren, has a few great posts about this here, here and here.

Also be sure and check out the amazing Hachette offers over on the Book Blogs ning.

If you want to receive books for review, it's helpful to have clear and professional review policy easily accessible on your blog. You can look at my review policy, and also be sure to check out this great article by Paula Krapf for more information.

Blogging in general:

The Story Siren has a fantastic post about the basics of using the blogger platform.

Problogger - This site is aimed more at people who blog professionally, so I find a lot of the information doesn't necessarily apply to me. But it does have great recommendations about promotion, creating professional content, and other blogging ideas. I like to keep an eye on it, anyway.

@Jo - I added your page, thanks for the link!

@Juju - *blushing*

@T.Anne - I just looked at Doodlebug's page and it seems like she's not taking new clients right now, but she's referring people on to another designer.
