Etsy Finds: Drawing in Books

Lately, I've been a spending a lot of time on Etsy. For those who don't know, Etsy is a website where people sell vintage and handmade items. It's like the world's biggest craft show, online. Only better. But don't start looking, because it's seriously addictive. Instead, take a moment to see what I found. It's artwork created on vintage book pages. I love it! Perfect for the walls of my imaginary (for now) library. Here are a few of my favorites:

My Red Umbrella by carambatack

Gold Leaf and Gold Leaves by Copperinc

So, what do you think? It took me a moment to get over my cringe at the idea of drawing in a book. But I love the idea of recycling the pages of a book that would otherwise be a total loss. Hurrah for appreciating the beauty of these old pages and finding a way to enhance and display it.

All images are the property of their creators and are used with their permission.

They're amazing, once I got over the writing on book pages. But you're right great way to recycle.

I am so totally addicted to Etsy! I bought a ton of things for the wedding...including Upcycled Vintage books that had been turned into journals that I used as guest books. I felt the same way about them taking out the pages but I love that it gives them new life.

I MUST HAVE THESE for my imgainary library as well.

What gorgeous finds! I must have at least one beside my shelves. Hate going on etsy as I can't stop looking at all the stuff I want to get but couldn't have.

Beautiful! Be sure to check out the book sculpture on etsy, if you like these!

Juju- It certainly does!

Charlotte: I love the Red Umbrella too.

Zia: A landfill would be the ultimate horror.

Dandy: I am extremely jealous of your vintage journals. I want the one with the birches on the cover.

Claire: I know, it's insanely addictive.

Connie: Heading off to check those out right now.

I agree that once the initial shock of writing and drawing in books wears off, they are pretty fabulous. I am now seeing how this could easily become an obsession- looking for cool new recycled book drawings!

I too cringed when I saw "drawing in books" but you're right, it's a wonderful way to recycle and they'd make a great addition to any room that have books.

I think these are pretty neat, I mean I would cringe at the idea of drawing in a book but if these were otherwise going to waste then I'm ok with that. I really like the first one :-)
